Introducing the WebReboot Nagios Plugin

For a while now, Nagios® has been an important partner for Servprise in advertising the WebReboot® line of products. It’s made a lot of sense because our products complement the value of Nagios’s software. What has been lacking, however, is some way of combining the two elegantly. That wait should be coming to an end very shortly.

I’m pleased to announce the availability of a pre-release version of our WebReboot Nagios Plugin. While pre-release, the software is quite stable and mostly feature complete. Planned changes are related to configuration and some internal mechanics. Additionally, the plugin only works for the WebReboot Enterprise right now, but will work for the WebReboot 3.0 as well in the near future.

With the WebReboot Nagios Plugin, you’ll be able to monitor the actual power status of your server (is it really down or is the network just down?), monitor the ambient temperature of your server, and provide hardware power-on, power-off, and reboot commands as automatic corrective actions to any check you can perform with Nagios. The plugin provides features previously unavailable to both Nagios and WebReboot customers, making the pairing a great combination.

Please try it out and let us know what you think.
